Join Us or Zoom with us Sundays at 10:30am

2647 Chili Avenue
Rochester, NY 14624

Young and old, people of all colors, queer and straight, questioners and lifelong believers join together weekly

to celebrate and wrestle with what it means to call oneself a Christian in the world today. Our fairly traditional worship experience is about an hour long and includes weekly communion. Together we sing, pray, laugh and learn in just about equal measure. Kids depart worship after 15 minutes and head into faith formation activities. Immediately following worship all are invited into the Fellowship Hall for hot coffee  and lively conversation.

Sharing God's love with community

as lovers of God and followers of Jesus...

We feed the hungry

We feed the hungry

In partnership with Foodlink and South West Ecumenical Ministries where we’re a monthly mobile pantry site and a supplier of food for senior meals and a school back pack program.

We pursue justice

We pursue justice

by supporting families in immigration court, marching in the LGBTQ PRIDE parade, encouraging gun-sense legislation, and protesting walls that prevent refugees from finding safety

We provide hospitality

We provide hospitality

by sharing our space with people with disabilities gaining job-readiness skills, creative quilters and writers, a 12 step program, and a community service organization... with room for more!

Learning about God's love

We believe that God is still speaking, and the Bible is a valuable way to be in conversation with God. We take the Bible seriously, considering the context, the authors, and the intended audience. We also read other spiritual writings and listen to one another’s stories so that we can listen for God in our everyday lives.

Adults

Adults

Gather during Advent and Lent to discuss concepts as varied as darkness, aging, and the environment. As partners in the care of God’s creation, we’re learning how to slow global warming using the bestselling book: Drawdown! While primarily a Caucasian community, we long to understand privilege and its impact on racism. As a spiritual community we are engaging in the UCC program: Sacred Conversations to Erase Racism.

Youth

Youth

We’re trying to hold the attention of youth with fun activities and meaningful service projects while always reminding our young people that they are unconditionally loved by God and our community.

Children

Children

During the school year, Sunday School is offered weekly for children (preschool through 5th grade) in an innovative workshop rotation program. In the summer, children have Sunday School during the entire worship service. We utilize outdoor, cooperative games that allow the children to be more physically active in the learning process.

Nursery

Nursery

A staffed, fully equipped nursery is available throughout the worship service each week.

Music as an expressions of God's love

We are blessed with outstanding music groups for all ages. The adult choir is featured in worship weekly, with occasional special music by our children’s choir, brass choir, adult and youth hand-bell choirs, flute choir, and more. Adult choir practice is on Wednesday evenings – contact Ron Strong if you would like to participate in this choir or another music group.

We are a terrific mix of the Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ denominations.  We are theologically progressive, socially active, celebrate communion weekly and thrive with strong lay leadership.  Check out www.ucc.org and www.disciples.org to learn more!

I am happy to be the Pastor of this progressive Christian community where saints and sinners are welcome!  Colgate Rochester Divinity School is where I earned my Master of Divinity and married my amazing spouse Norman. We come from loving families and have a terrific constellation of friends that we consider family too. Our two dogs, Emerald and Finn, keep Norman company while I step out into the world of parish ministry.  I hope you will stop by and experience the future of Christianity – “a place where all are welcome.”  Get in touch with me through our contact page!  Peace, Steven
